CATHERINE PEREHUDOFF
ARTIST STATEMENT
Catherine Perehudoff’s paintings are inspired by the varied geography of the Canadian landscape. Her work in this exhibit includes landscapes from a number of different provinces. The combination of painting outside on location as well as working further in depth in the studio has enabled her to develop a naturalist’s observation that goes beyond a simple fidelity to nature. She captures the transitory moments of light, colour, and atmosphere. Her work is a contemporary conversation with the history and context of landscape painting. Catherine’s painterly but meticulous brushwork conveys convincingly the season, climate, and time of day. Catherine has exhibited extensively in Canada, the USA, Norway, and most recently in London, England.
